Dear families and auditioners of RPAP’s Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition,

We could not be more excited to bring this show to life! The classic story of the Wizard of Oz has stood the test of time. The film premiered in 1939 making it 85 years old in 2024 when our production hits the stage. The story was originally a book written in 1900 by Frank L. Baum and was brought to life by the famous Judy Garland as Dorothy.

Here you will find all of the dates that we will be rehearsing. Please let us know of any conflicts ahead of time on your audition form. We will allow up to 3 absences from general rehearsals. Tech week, dress rehearsals, and performances are mandatory.

Your child may not be called to every single rehearsal. Once the schedule is finalized, it will be broken down by part. For example, if a rehearsal is labeled full cast, everyone is expected to attend. If a rehearsal is only labeled “munchkins”, then only those cast as munchkins need to be at rehearsal.

Communication will occur primarily through email. Please send all concerns or questions to info@ridleyperformingartsprogram.com.

Audition Agreement:

1.This program cannot be used as a daycare facility. Children involved should understand their commitment to performing in a full length musical. We ask that they come ready to learn and participate. Those auditioning should expect long rehearsals, and lots of hard work, but also a lot of fun! RPAP is proud to have a reputation of creating a fun yet professional theatrical environment, when casting we strive to look for kids who are interested in not just performing but as well as helping to build a community and program.

2.There is a section of this form regarding conflicts, it is imperative that the child, along with their parent/guardian, fills out that section to the best of their ability. If things do happen to come up, please notify a staff member at least two weeks prior to the newfound conflict. If a child has 2 or more unexcused absences, they will risk being pulled from musical numbers, if the absences continue the child may be asked to leave the program to ensure that the staff members focus is on those who are in attendance, rather than having to teach material again.

3. If cast, each member will be expected to pay a $150 program fee. This ensures our program can function and fund our production.

“There Are No Small Parts”  Casting Note

As you audition, please understand that there are NO small parts. Every part is important and vital (even ensemble) in creating a successful, entertaining performance. Please do not come into auditions expecting a part. Be confident in your abilities  but be aware of the chance that you may not get the part you want.  The staff is not just looking for great actors, we are also looking for great people to work with.

Thanks for registering. See you at auditions!
